SS 316 Seamless (SMLS) pipe is formed by drawing a solid billet over a piercing rod to create the hollow shell. As the manufacturing process does not include any welding, seamless pipes are perceived to be stronger and more reliable. Stainless Steel 316 Seamless Pipe as the name suggests is a pipe without a seam or a weld-joint in contrast to Seam or Welded pipe.

The greatest advantage of SS 316 seamless steel pipes is their increased ability to withstand pressure. The weakest point in a SS 316 welded steel pipe is the welded seam. But because a seamless steel pipe has not been welded, it doesn’t have that seam, making it equally strong around the entire circumference of the pipe.
